I've been lapworking for years. I love the intimacy I experience by actually handling the work as I make it - the sort of tactile pleasure craft-workers experience. Lapworking also gets me up and moving more than when I'm at my easel. I paint, hold the work out to assess it, get up out of the chair to set it up and view it at a distance, pick it up and sit back down. Up, down, up, down.
