Barbara Rachko
Barbara Rachko's series of pastel-on-sandpaper paintings, entitled The Domestic Threats, uses Mexican folk art—masks, carved wooden animals, papier mâché figures, and toys in a lively blend of reality and fantasy. On trips to central Mexico Rachko visits local mask shops, markets, and bazaars searching for the figures that will later populate her paintings. Rachko incorporates a variety of influences in her artwork, including child¬hood memories and images encountered in literature, pre-columbian art, and cinema.

Parviz Fardi Rad
Photography and drawing has fascinated Parviz Farzi Rad throughout his life. The first initiation to draw and paint more frequently came true in 1988 in art classes of Ideen Aghdashloo, the well known Persian painter in all mediums. After finishing basic skills in drawing and colored pencil with him, Parviz explored and practiced watercolor, his treasured medium, by himself for few years. In the meantime, searching for a favorite master, he encountered to Atashzad, the pioneer in watercolor specially wet in wet watercolor paintings. His works thrilled and exited Parviz so much that he has stayed with him for many years and whenever he gets time attend his class and work with him. He showed Parviz the fluidity and transparency of watercolor which is distinctive from oil and other mediums.

Tiit Raid
Tiit Raid lives on the banks of Fall Creek near Eau Claire, Wisconsin. A pond that is part of the creek and poised at the top of a spectacular waterfall is right outside his back door. Kayaking on the pond has become a daily obsession as well as a resource for an ongoing series of paintings. These vivid, beautifully painted and crafted objects reveal a unique perspective on this specific point of interest. Even though the artist's style and technique remain consistent, the range of images is broad reaching. Several pieces are close-up reflections of the riverbank suggesting an abstract emphasis, while others are more panoramic with identifiable imagery. Regardless of the subject matter, all of these paintings are a testimony to the imagination and skills of an artist who had to look no further than his own back yard for a world of ideas and inspiration.

Y. Donna Randall
Y. Donna Randall has been involved in drawing and creating art since her youth in southern Ontario. In the early 70's, she attended the University of Toronto obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree. Moving to Ottawa in 1977, she discovered figurative sculpture, through wood carving while studying with master carvers. Her love of carving and drawing the human figure came from this influence. Since then she has expanded into clay sculpting and then more seriously into painting with watercolour, acrylic and mixed media. In 1997 Donna became a full-time artist. She has studied at the Ottawa School of Art, Algonquin College and with various outstanding Canadian artists, most notably Ghita Caisserman-Roth who won the Governor General medal for Painting and Drawing in 2000.
